[에너지신문] The government of Finland has started the preparation of a new energy and climate strategy, aimed at creating a basis for fulfilling EU’s climate and energy goals for 2030. Finland aims to increase the share of renewable energy in the 2020s to over 50%, to halve the use of imported oil for domestic purposes and to increase energy self-sufficiency to over 55%. This change is especially based on increasing the supply of bioenergy and other emission-free renewable options. The Finnish Government aims to start pilot, demonstration and reference institutions and projects for new energy technology as cost-effectively as possible. The Ministry of the Environment is in charge of planning the medium-term climate policy whose preparation is coordinated with the energy and climate strategy. The strategy will be submitted as a Government Report to the Parliament by the end of 2016.
