[에너지신문] 07 December 2015 - Longyuan, a subsidiary of state-owned Chinese power utility China Guodian, has started building a 400 MW offshore wind project off the south-east coast of Fujian. Construction is expected to last three years and the project should be commissioned in late 2018. The project is estimated to cost Cyu 8.2bn (US$1.28bn), with Longyuan investing 70% of the total funds and its partner Jiangyin Sulong Heat and Power Generating Company financing the remainder.

China aims to reach 200 GW of wind power by 2020 and has approved purchase prices for offshore wind generation (Cyu 0.75-0.85/kWh, i.e. US$11.7-13.3c/kWh, higher than the grid-tariff of coal-fired power plants). Since 2014, China has approved 44 offshore wind projects in 11 provinces totalling 10.53 GW but many projects have been stalled by high construction costs.
