[에너지신문] 11 December 2015 - The State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate (SNRI) of Ukraine has approved a 10-year extension of the operation license for the South Ukraine-2 nuclear power plant. The unit was shut down in May 2015, two days before the expiry of its design lifetime, for major upgrading over 300 days costing US$114m to enable a 10-year life extension. The 950 MW power plant, commissioned in 1985, had been granted a 30-year operation license. With this extension, the unit will continue generating until December 2025. The SNRI has already granted lifetime extensions for the Rovno units 1 and 2 and for the first unit of the South Ukraine nuclear plant in December 2013; a similar extension could be granted to the other South Ukraine unit until 2019.
