[에너지신문] 22 December 2015 - The State of Finland has acquired the 25% stake held by Russian gas giant Gazprom in Finnish gas company Gasum, raising its share in the company to 100%.
Finland's national gas company Gasum has the monopoly on the country's gas sector (only importer and wholesale market player). In November 2014, the State of Finland acquired the stakes held by Fortum (31%) and E.ON (20%) in Gasum, raising its interest from 24% to 75%; Gasonia, a state-owned company set up for this purpose, took 48.5% of Gasum's share, while the National Emergency Supply Agency took 26.5%. The remaining 25% was held by Gazprom.
In February 2014, Gasum acquired a 51% stake in Norwegian LNG distributor Skangass with the aim of strengthening its position in the growing Nordic LNG distribution market. Gasum's LNG business unit, including the Porvoo production plant and the planned Turku/Pori terminal, will become a part of the new joint enterprise.
